PAZTCUARO
Paztcuaro was a very important center of evangelization. There Vasco de Quiroga opened up courses in the School of Saint Nicholas, for teaching Indians. It is worth, to notice that of the 39 established houses by the Jesuits in all of the New Spain, seven of them were located in the bishop territory of Michoacan and one of them in Pazcuaro. That is the reason why it shouldn’t be strange that many outstanding liberators emerged from that area.
